The menu at Movements is a celebration of traditional Caribbean flavors. You can indulge in heartwarming dishes like the Curry Mutton priced at £9.00, a dish that promises a delightful explosion of spices that feel like a warm embrace. Each bite tells a story of slow-cooked tenderness that is simply unforgettable.
- Dumplings: Choose from Fried Dumplins (£2.00) or the more adventurous Ackee and Saltfish Dumplins (£3.00), which encapsulate the essence of Jamaican comfort food.
- Individual Dishes: Keep it simple with Hard Food (£5.00) and Plain and Rice (£5.00), staples that pair beautifully with any main meal.
- Porridge: For a sweet wake-up call, try the Cornmeal Porridge at £3.50, a smooth and rich breakfast option.
- Beverages: Wash it all down with a refreshing Bigga for just £3.00, a classic in the Caribbean beverage scene.
However, like any establishment, Movements isn’t without its flaws. Some patrons have shared less-than-stellar experiences related to service and cleanliness, as noted by a review mentioning an unfortunate incident involving hair in the food. It’s crucial for any dining experience that high hygiene standards are maintained to ensure customer satisfaction.
Yet, the overwhelming majority of reviews praise the cooking here as “lit” with one customer, Dee Louis, exclaiming that the Curry Mutton is “absolutely amazing,” comparing it to nostalgic flavors from his mother's kitchen. Azera Kelly echoed this sentiment, labeling Movements as the best authentic Jamaican restaurant in London, especially raving about the Fried Chicken with special sauce and Oxtail Soup.
In summary, Movements Caribbean Takeaway presents a lively truckload of flavors that authentically represent Jamaica. With a variety of dishes that cater to every palate, it promises a rich culinary experience that warms the soul. While there may be bumps on the road to perfection, the quality of food remains the star of the show. So, if you’re in the mood for flavorful Caribbean comfort, this is a spot worth revisiting – perhaps with a reminder to keep expectations of service as high as your appetite!

I wasn’t going to say anything but i was enjoying the food at home until i see a hair in my food. I have brown dyed hair in canerows so am confused to what i have see, which has put me off my food. It’s a shame because the food is nice but I guess their hair isn’t wrapped up. The customer service wasn’t great either which did put me off to begin with coming into the shop.
